About

Connor Towns is a versatile trumpeter, composer, and conductor in Central Texas. He balances a colorful career of freelancing, teaching, and composing music that spans string quartets to film scores. He has played with the Austin Symphony, Zion Theater Group, and Symphony of the Hills, as well as a soloist live on Texas Public Radio. His arrangements and compositions cover orchestral, chamber, jazz, contemporary, and multi-media genres, and has been published by Pulitzer-Prize winning composer, Jennifer Higdon. Most recently, Mr. Towns was the Director of Instrumental Music at the North East School of the Arts. 


Connor earned his Master of Music degree at the Frost School of Music, where he studied trumpet with Craig Morris. He graduated with his Bachelor's degree from Texas State University, where he studied trumpet, composing, and music education with Keith Winking, Bob Cannon, Mary Ellen Cavitt, and Michael Ippolito. He is a Presser Scholar and a Henry Mancini Fellow. 


Connor's students have gone on to higher institutions such as the New England Conservatory, the Berklee College of Music, Lawrence Conservatory, the University of Chicago, and Rice University. He and his wife reside in San Antonio, Texas.
